Our 18th Century Animal Art trail features Stubb’s horse in Whistlejacket by George Stubbs (about1762), Longhi’s rhinoceros in Exhibition of a Rhinoceros at Venice by Pietro Longhi (probably 1751), and Hogarth’s cat in The Graham Children by William Hogarth (1742).

The National Gallery London is one of the world’s best museums and is a fantastic place to take your children. When taking my toddler to the museums, I have mapped out a few routes that only take about 10 minutes! We like to have a look at a few masterpieces featuring animals. This scavenger hunt approach, gives kids a connection to the art and helps them not to be overwhelmed. I recommend keeping your visits short to give your child the chance to remember what they have seen.
