In this London guide Joolz shows you Gordon’s Wine Bar.
Gordon’s was London first wine bar and a perfect place to hide from the city.
Learn all about how Angus Gordon set up a bar here because of an ancient law created by King Edward III who owed a lot of money to a wine merchant in 1364. So he allowed “Free Vintners” to sell wine wherever they liked. Samuel Pepys lived here as did Rudyard Kipling and it is now an atmospheric bar, popular with city drinkers, lovers and tourists.
Joolz guides recommends Gordon’s Wine Bar and it is very popular so get there early!

  1. What I just sent to Gordon's Wine Bar: Hi, It is just terrible you promote and glorify and sell alcohol! Alcohol is a DRUG. Just because it's legal doesn't make it right! A casual booze drinker is no better than a casual pot smoker, except they aren't breaking the law! People need to grow up and set an example and not use mind-altering drugs to get buzzed, relax, have "fun", celebrate, socialize, etc. What a thing to do! And we will NEVER get the pot smokers to understand why it is wrong and immature to use drugs, as long as people use alcohol! Their number one excuse is, "Pot is safer than alcohol." I tell them over and over we shouldn't use EITHER of these things! How hard is that?? But it's like talking to a wall, because they see alcohol promoted and glorified everywhere you turn. I found out about your establishment while reading guide books on traveling to London. They all rave about your business, and say it's a great place to go. And then I was watching some YouTube videos on things to do in London, and even THEY said to go to Gordon's Wine Bar. Oh this makes me furious! I have ranted about alcohol for 15 years, writing thousands of comments, tons of blogs, even a BOOK about why we shouldn't use mind-altering drugs like alcohol and marijuana!! Haven't you people read a thing I have written?? It's so frustrating, because here I type my fingers to the bone for years, thinking I've made a difference in the world, and then I find out about places like yours. My husband and I would NEVER go to a "wine bar" or any other place that sells booze! You are setting a terrible example! Now all the young people will think that when you grow up, it's good to use a mind-altering DRUG to have "fun", etc. And this gives the pot smokers further justification to continue THEIR drug use! Is that what you want??
